Preventing sporting injuries is increasingly important for individuals and teams alike. Using DorsaVi's wearable sensors and software, the physical therapists of Memphis Kinetics can specifically test and compare the strength of the muscles that are important in your sport. They can design or work with your trainer or coach to decide upon an exercise plan to address your weaknesses and help prevent injuries.
Recuperation from injuries requires five important elements:
Early intervention
Thorough assessment and diagnosis
Contemporary physical therapy
Rehabilitation and strengthening exercise
Load monitoring and graduated return to sport
With the data from your Memphis Kinetics's Injury Screen, therapists, trainers, and coaches can design a program to prevent injury as well as determine when it's safe to return to play. All athletes from professional to weekend warriors can benefit from a screening.
What is DorsaVi
DorsaVi is a wireless sensor technology that tracks and measures how athletes move in real-time. The system consists of wearable motion and muscle activity sensors that record data at 200 frames per second, and intuitive software with sophisticated algorithms that turn robust data into easy-to-read and meaningful results. With objective data from DorsaVi, your therapists, trainers and coaches can accurately assess risk of injury, guide training programs, and can help determine when it's safe to return to play.
What Screens Are Offered
Running: The DorsiVi Running screen can be completed for any distance or speed. It is designed to screen runners or running athletes for imbalances that can lead to injury or to improve performance. This screen is advantageous because runners are screened on their natural terrain. A running screen evaluates ground reaction force, peak acceleration force, running load, ground contact time, speed, and cadence. The program provides an overall limb symmetry score based on this data. Memphis Kinetics uses this screen coupled with one of our strength screens to build a program for our runners to increase efficiency and decrease risk of injury.
AMI: The DorsiVi AMI screen is used to assess an athlete's strength imbalances and risk for injury. It is an upper level movement screen that includes core stability, squatting, jumping, and mobility.
Knee: The DorsiVi Knee screen is used to screen for lower extremity imbalances with focus on the knee. It includes squatting and landing mechanics. It can be performed by all levels of athletes.
Back: The DorsiVi Back screening is designed to measure motion, movement, and muscle activity of the low back to assess efficiency of movement of athletes. It is a great tool for golfers and tennis players to increase efficiency and decrease risk of injury.
